Hard
For the past few days, I have been rather busy with my ECA. Considering that the exam is 38 days away, it is rather a bad timing to be busy.

Not only am I busy with writing proposal of co-operation to other school for my club's inter-varsity hobby kit competition (with the help of my YEP friends from SMU... thz), I am also cracking my head asking my friends in school to join orientation camp next year.

However difficult or meddlesome they may seem, it is nothing compare to what my roomy is doing.

He is seeking to start a Cycling club from scratch.

It's like 愚公移山 task, especially the recent parliment debate about cycling and the fact that someone did meet with fatal accident in school.

I want to help, but I could not due to my limitation in the knowledge and scehdule.

It's always hard to start something from scratch, especially under the shadow of many other mishap.

I just hope I will be able to tell you my activity in the club before my campus life end.

What I Wanna Be
Here is a rough translation of A song I can relate to after my tean bonding session with YEP yesterday at Pulau Ubin (an off-shore isle north of eastern Singapore).

***
Blast My Desire
move
Initial D 4th Stage Ed

Hey, I'm calling on a New generation, advocating the arrival of a new age

How long will you keep pretending to forget this heartache? (Tension of a torn-up heart)
Scowling at the night, with things deep in your eyes that can't hold you down (Clinging to this image)

Yeah, even the means of reaching out to and touching others' hearts(Who you wanna be, who you wanna be, what you wanna see, what you wanna see)
The unknown couple will from here on... (Hey, I'm calling on a New generation, listen! This will blast your love)

Blast my desire, break off the barrier
Wake me out of my sleeping dream (The skills to tear you up)Blast my desire, stronger than fire
A risky tune that shakes the ages (Break what you wanna break)

A grey set on this stage, a street in that ordinary area
The protagonist's appearance situation, Block party jack the show
The atmosphere now is merely shocked, a wind that stirs up omens
You who believe will surely emerge alone

The beats overlap, the sparks overflow in a white afterimage (Mix the throbbing beat)
Chasing the wind from the lamented past toward the shining future (The signal of provocation)
If you have both limits and common sense, you can pass through(Who you wanna be, who you wanna be, what you wanna see, what you wanna see)
The taut string is plucked(Hey, I'm calling on a New generation, listen! This will blast your love)

Blast my desire, break off the barrier
Destroying all the unecessary luxuries (A wheel of fire)
Blast my desire, stronger than fire
We will outrun with the risky tune (Break what you wanna break)

Yeah, then the dignified musician plays a distorted sound on the guitar at his hip
A little of the sub-zero sequence, the subtle, vital mixing
Let's spend the night without talking, so we can be embraced by the majestic noise
We'll sense a world no one has seen before

Woh woh Blast my desire
Rather than standing still, we'll follow the hazy light beyond the storm
Yes, we never stop

A grey set on this stage, a street in that ordinary area
The protagonist's appearance situation, Block party jack the show
The atmosphere now is merely shocked, a wind that stirs up omens
You who believe will surely come, listen! This will blast your love

Blast my desire, (be what you wanna be)Blast my desire (break what you wanna break)

From the highlighted words, this is my attitude on YEP and any other form of community service I had rendered. It might not be clear, but let me go through it slowly.
One aspect of the session is to derived the difference between community service & service learning. The former is something very common, but the latter, as explained by others, is what we will be doing in the YEP, learning consistently while rendering services to the host country.
But to me, service learning is just a cliche of community service.
Most people see the former as a academic burden in school days, do and fuck off, and hence many left out the fact that everything they do will have something to learn from.
Through this YEP process, as said in the song, is a new gernaration, of learning process that the governement, in the form of Singapore International Foundation, is trying adjust the over-teach system in Singapore.
However true it may be, it often depends on yourself in the end. How much you learn, will depend on how much you are willing to learn. You have to put aside all unnecessary element in life for that moment, or break it open in order to learn something from it.
Blast away your desire, break what you wanna break, and you will be what you wanna be.

Exercise
As most of you would know, I don't exercise a lot. At the most, go to the gym to do some weight training or run on the threadmail.

But today, I did a breakthrough.

I cycle, 1 round around the campus.

Okay, it is not like it is such a big deal. My roomate/comrade could do like a few rounds, at high speed. The usual group slow down quite a bit because I could not catch up... feel so pai seh.

So much for exercise today. Feel so worn out that I could fell asleep immediately after my shower.

And if you see me walking funny tommorrow, you should know what happen... (^__^!!!

Modern Cookin'
Every weekend, lou ma zi prepare foods for me to bring back to hall. They include alsl sort of meats, bread or fruits. There are some special dishes sometime.

This week special is burdock root fish cake.

What is burdock roots? I don't know how to explain either. It is a branch like veggie. If you want to know more, go look for it online.

Anyway, other than the shaving of the roots into shreds, the rest is all done my machine (that's the limit of her hand ever since...). Trust me, our chef is using machine this time, and the result is almost perfect, especially for the fish cake.

All she did was to slice up the fish meat, and throw them into the chopper. With taps on the button, the fish meat mixed up well with the corn starch and salts, there you have it, fish cake better then hand-made.

All by the courtesy of modern living.

Poem
I first heard of the anime titled kino no tabi (Kino's Travel): The Beautiful World during my Japan trip. My fellow NT went whistling this famous tune, and soon found out that it is also the OST of the anime. And the tune, is one of my favourite tune, and hence the interest of the anime. And I can tell you, this is a very deep one.

The anime is sort of a travel story of ficticious places. The Kino we know in the series is not the real Kino. She grew up in a place where people remove the child in them when they reach 12, so they can do what they do not want to do. The real Kino saved her when she decided not to "grow up" and her parent decided to kill her. So, she took up where Kino had left behind after his death: to travel, to do something she like.

One place she visited was being foretold that the world will end, and when she left, she meet an army that attack the place, in prevention of the end of the world. Both places' people read a prediction book, comprise of a long poem.

The poem, in fact, is just a very depressing poem. The poet was forced to write it by the king. But, all his life was happy, and how is he going to write such a poem? So, his wife decided to kill herself in front of him. And so, he wrote a poem so sad that the king fell sick after hearing part of the peom. The poet went on reading the peom, and the whole country drentched into depression for 10 years, until the poet died.

But, the depression did not end. The poet's 14 years old daugther continue to recite the poem, and then on, every year, the place would elect one 14 years old girl to recite the poem, and let continue the depression in the country.

But to their least expectation, it spread in the most tragic ways to other places of the world, where the interprection of people varies.

Words is powerful, as told by a character in Trick (a J-drama, and illustrated the 'power' of words by asking someone to hold a paper with writing something like, i shited in the woods and i pick them up with my hands, and people backed off...).

But what is really powerful is how we interprect it. So, when you say something to others, sometime, when you have tried your best, it might not be your fault that the others get the wrong ideas. It is like how different people interpreted the poem.

Try not to think too much of what other's say. Try not to get the wrong idea. It will be good for yourself, too.

Saturated
Here I am, writing a post after last Saturday. This is very much different from the time when I can blog 2-3 post a day.

Why? Guess shuja finally actting like a university student.

Just came back from campus for a meeting for Material/Computor Engineering Freshmen Orientation Camp '05. I was choosen for the Chief Group Leader, and mean I will have to lead a group of friends to bring a lasting opening to their campus life. Gigantic responsiblity. One more load on my ECA shoulder.

On the other hand, I have like 2 tutorial, 2 test/quiz and a lab report to finish by this week. Next to me now, admist downloading more anime and songs, etc, I have my Maths notes with me, getting ready to start my tutorial.

The feeling?

Saturated, but good. I'm doing something I should do, finally.

So why am I complaining? I must be not quite stable again, or just trying to do a update, or... ahh... what am I doing?

Busy?
Not quite.

Though I had 3 test to prepare, they weren't that much of a burden really.

Maybe it is all the new people I know from ECA, and start talking to them online at nights after study. (yes, after study)

For example, right now, I'm talking to this Chinese girl I know from AnimeWorks, in Chinese somemore. She is rather cute, with real good figure, comparable to gravure idols. Moreover, due to common interest, we can talk to each other more.

And earlier today, I went down to Marina Square to support my sub-com from JAC, who were there to take part in a MediaCorp promotion event. Even took pictures with one of my favourite celebrity \(^0^)/

Tommorow, I will also be downtown attending a culutral talk. It also allow me to buy a hobby magazine that have really good freebies this month...

Busy? Definately, better than slack at home, right?

Regret
I feel blasted with regret. I did not send my best friend/NT to UK.

It was worsen when I think about what I wrote before the returning flight from Japan.

It might not be all my fault, he wasn't willing to reveal the details of his flight and such. He may be thinking, he will return for Chrstmas anyway, so no necessity for us to send him off.

Anyway, even a bit late: Bon Voyage.

Some
There always something notewrothy around me. I am not going to say who are involved, but for those who think I am talking about them, just hope you don't get too worked up over it. Just a little comment from someone who observed it:

Someone went out with his/her state to celebrate his/her 21st birthday. When I ask where they went for the meal, the answer was all you can eat buffet. I find it rather not romanctic, especailly they were nicely dressed up. But one important point for the decision. The female counrterpart have an equal appetite with the male's, despite their great different in size... Never judge someone's appetite by look...

Someone from my group of aquitance decided to plan an eat out sesion. Two people started the idea of buffet (yes, again). One of them, is a female with slender, proportion figure... Once again, don't underestimate the females' eatting power...

Someone don't seem to be on good term with me recently, having little or nothing to talk to each other. I ask him/her why, and he/she say I reseemble someone dislike by the whole class in JC, especially so in terms of attitude... What's wrong with me all these while that make people dislike me...?

Someone commented wanting a girl like that in My Sassy Girl to be a girlfriend... Do long time singles (especially guys like me) have weird requirements for their one in mind...?

Really something to ponder about...

Pirate
There is a reason why I had not written about movie for so long.

It is not like I have not watch any, actually 3 - 4. But all are from online download.

I don't feel good reviewing films I did not watch proper channel, but I will do a short review on each today (as I have nothing to say...):

Catwoman: rather a surprise, the action was really great! But the story, a bit new, as talking about the baddie making harmful cosmetic products, however, still rather dumb.

The Hole: a British film with Keira Knightly, before any movie we know of her. A British film, that's all I can say. Did you know she have topless scenes in the movie? (but I downloaded it cause I thought it will be interesting to see her before her Holywood debut)

The Twin Effects 2: watch it because of the hype over Twins and Jaycee Fang, Jacky Chan's son. A rather new storyline, though, about men being supressed by women. However, still a Hong Kong film, trying too hard.

AvP: too high a expectation for this fanboy show. I personally like the action, like using a dead Xenomorph (aka Alien) head as sheild, or a Yauja (aka Predator) doing this mid air attack on the Queen. Definately a movie for dumb American (p.s. this top the box-office till this week).

All these, by the courtesy of Internet download technolgy. Don't blame me, I am just a poor student.
