Cheapo
Being on the look out for low cost ways of gaining advantages, it's seems to be the human nature, espeically among us Chinese, which is quite sad.

It's even cheaper when I see that in my own bloodline also...

But some group of Chinese did it explicitly, and with my own eyes I saw today at my event booth's photo taking sessions, it's no wonder to me while they get so much prejudice from the natives.

The thing is, freebies area all around, and there is some limit. What you take too much today, you may just have to give them up in future.

'cos what you are gonna do, is nothing much than making yourself look damn cheap.

Duo Dress
One comment I got from gu je or obasan, when I went HK, was that I look too young for my age.

gu je was OK with it. She realise it's just the way I dress up.

And I admit, my hairstyle was quite screw-up already...

obasan got a bigger comment, and she pointed out that my younger look is not a good thing after all, and reflecting, what she feels, my immaturity, so to say, my interest in figurines and such.

She thinks I need to find a better hobby.

I don't disagree with her, after all, I'm going for baking class next month to broaden my culinary skill, and feel like buying new guitar string to allow me to play my guitar again.

But, I feel I'm a little misjudged here. I dress casual and young, only because I was on holiday. The hair matter aside, my dress sense was in HK was purely the way I will dress to feel comfortable, without spending too much, and look unfashionable.

Given the occassion, like when I was doing my internship, I dress up to the look of professionals. Afterall, the hairstyle was suppose to have a more formal look also, just that since I'm on holiday, I took the more casual option.

I admit I am still not acting my age, but that is because I am still in school, and I do not want to lose my casual self so fast. I had a small experience of what's life in working world already, and I do not want to embrace the real world in my life in school as yet. I always feel it is totally miserable to dress the way you work, any moment in life, and act the way it is at work every hour of the day. I want to have some personal space, I want to have some moment of freedom after work.

So to say, I am more than grateful obasan can show me the concern by pointing out the problem with my outter look.

But, I hope she will pass by here some time real soon, and understand I prefer to duo-dress in life, and also what I had be come already.

Hairy Business
I was like finished with lesson at 11+, after lunch, think about it, why not do something about my out-of-control hair. So, made a call to the stylist, who is transfered to a new branch at Century Square, and take MRT from one end to the other.

On the way back, there's this maid, ultra-power, she spoke to the grandma in Caton, and later recognise that the couple sitting opposite is from Shanghai, just by the way they speak... COOL

At the saloon, I*CON by shunji matsuo, I am greeted by my favourite stylist, after 5+ months, and it's still her who know best of my hair, fixing the mistake done in Beijing.

The concept of the hair style is good, just that the material, i.e. my hair, can't make it....

As usual, chit chat with her in Caton (cos she's Malaysian, but packed with years of exprience under the Japanese saloon chain, which has academy across the strait, too), and she spoke to me in Caton the moment she saw me already. It seems like all hair stylist need to have excellent memory of clients by face. It was the same when I was at Beijing; I did not even told the counter staff my name when I called for booking, the moment I at the saloon, the stylist recognise me already.

My favourite stylist go on to tell me, he was not surprised that my hair got a little off, fundamental level. She told me when she was training some PRC trainee once, they had problem with basic trimming; but when comes to creative styling, they got lotsa treat up their sleeve. Now, that the case of over-creative, or shoud I say, the common problem with modern social education in China, where things change too fast.

Then, she noticed that the front of my fringe had a big chunk shaved off, and asked me if the stylist in Beijing was a male or female, I told her it was a male, and she was not surprised at all. Male stylist tends to act bolder when cutting hair off client's head, while lady stylist tends to go gradual.

Lastly, there's a valid reason for my type of hair to go style at Japanese saloon, or to Japanese brand hair product, simply because this is the type of hair condition of most Japanese.

And so to say, not only had I got my hairstyle mended today, never imagine I could have learnt so much about this hairy business (^-^).

Me Retro
I'm born in the 80's, and I'm proud of it, 'cos it's the era where good HK adaptation of Japanese songs are so abundent.

And I am not the only one saying so: http://copycat.ppc-life.com/bbs/viewthread.php?tid=87161

At KTV, not only do I sing the latest hits, Mandarin or Japanese alike, I also sing a huge range of 80's Canto-pop.

To name a few, Lesilie Cheung's, Jacky Cheung, Hacken Lee, etc

Admist those, many are Japanese originals.

If you don't believe me, see the following Youtube files, and judge it yourself.
The Original: Half Moon Serenade by Kawai Nahoko
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=StZoosJ4QPo
The Cover: 李克勤 - 月半小夜曲
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Te9w9rB8vmY

Today, we see a lot of these also. However, many wonder Jpop hits are re-make into shit like songs, all thankz to the lousy HK singers that's totally uncomparable to the original Japanese singers.

No matter sai lou has only two types of Asian song in his iPod nano: 80's Chinese hits & Jpop.

Some people may find us off bit, but hey, I dare say I listen to good song.

Changed the Way of Seeing It
Back from 北京, and Hong Kong, and something in me have changed a little, at least the ways I see things.

1st up, I was able to curb my urge to buy toys and CD, even when it's right in front of me in HK. It was so surprising my sai lou that he was willing to lend me money to buy a Yifei CD at HMV.

I used to bane of Hong Kong as being boring as a tourist attraction, but in terms of how their government trying to sell it, it is quite true. Food in Hong Kong can still be good, but only if you know how to find it. The dim sum at 川龙村 is definately a must try; shopping is such a great exprience, especially at MUJI and the sneaker street at 花园街.

But only if you are speaking in Cantonese or English... the comeptition from 内地 and the world is putting stress on Hong Kong up to these days, and the people is still scornful of their new master.

This is esepcially so when Hong Kong is supported by pure commerce, you find no engineering books in a bookstore there.

Macau is also one of those place that have a lot of good food, but I will think twice before going there again....

The grands, those I thought is easy to deal with, turn out not quite true afterall; the bad apple on lou ma zi's side is really irking me, including the children; everyone in the younger gen on lou dao's side can get along pretty good actually.

Things around me had not really changed, and by the way I see it, I hope it's because I had changed for the better after 北京's days...
