Always There Is A Fun Way
Just back from AFA09 (those who don't know and not bother by it, don't click on the link), being a full fledge kidult is dangerous for me, as she got a little jumpy about it. I think I better constrain it to just 2 days every year. Like last year, I was there more for the concert than the other attractions (no, I am NOT that intersted in cosplay).

One thing about AFA, it's moving from a commercial event to a fans event organised largely by fans of ACG culture. Some of the local celebrity anime blogger are there as organiser and crew. With the help of professional event organiser, AFA is moving towards a good future (unless they decide to jake up the concert ticket price even higher...).

Maybe because of the luck of my lovely, I actually managed to bump into a few overseas celebrities at the site, namely Alodia, Danny Choo, and Shoko-tan. Did I mention we bumped in to Cyril?

But what really impress me is how the organisers handle some of the lousy and embrassing crowd of Singapore.

For the better half of the world, everyone know it's dumbass to record a live performance. Not only would it be of bad quality, it can do some damage to the event, and some time even the artist (eh... not all artist look good in every angle....). So, it's up to the job of event organiser, and of which are understanding fans with a job in hand, to put a curb to the situation.

The initial part is typical event management: give that guy a warning, and that's the only thing they can do. They are no security guard, and they can't afford to spoilt some of those brat's expensive (and under untilised) DSLR. The attempt by the assholes are especially dangerous tonight, as one of the artist are performing songs that is 1st time being sung in the world (really, I mean it). IF the agents found out the songs are leaked, we might be in danger of not seeing AFA10. And thus, the poor fans-organiser was in a tough situation.

But somewhere along the line came a brilliant idea: light stick.

Yes, how can any concert goes without the good, old light stick. With the bright light blasting on stage, light stick is the only way artist can see the crowds' reaction. But today, it also serves as an anti-pirate weapon. The logic is simple: people swing the light stick in front of those camera throttling idiot, all their pictures become blinded (and it works even better for those high end sensitive camera rofl). In this way, not only did the suckers fail to take any embrassing shot, the fans in the crowd who truely enjoy themselves, really had a good time swinging the lightstick wildly.

In short, fans event is a job, but it's still a fun thing in general. Tackle difficult situation? Why not use a fun way that works, and you yourself as the organiser enjoys yourselves, too? There is always a better way, it's just a matter how and do you want to use it.

Down Gear

It is often said lifes a journey on a car, speed control is very important. When you see a bend, slowing down in necessary.

But as of how you slow down, thats a skill of its own.

For the better half of my life so far, jamming the brake is the only method I know. For those who drive, you will know this is not a good method, and how much it hurts the cars life. In the case of myself, this will mean over-reacting, stressing myself for no good reason. Who suffer? No one but myself.

So, whats the better method? Simply shift down the gear and let the momentum slow itself down.

In real-life, Im fortunate that she is the one who is applying this method on me now. Relax, so she said, If I cant settle it this week, there is many more days before the trip. Worst case, we can settle on the ground. Hence, what seems to be a fail attempt to get her visa for Thailand, is now just another Friday which she decide to roam out instead of staying at home.

And its that sample.

Ive always said how important for the 2 of us to compliment each other, to form a complete whole. With small lessons like this, I am indeed learning from her the other, and possibly better way to do things. The only regret is I might not be teaching her that much in life in reverse.

For The Future
3 months on, and many more to go. Along the way, I'm reminded of the
importance of looking beyond self, as well as beyond short term plan.

Plans made before this relationship started will need to be shelved.
Funds will need to be regulated and ways to expand it will need to be
sort after.

This may seems sudden, but this is the reality of things for me. If we
want it to last, plan will definately need to be made again to
maintain it. Be it big or small, I need to initiate it, no matter how
hard it may be.

At least, while not losing the final goal, I do see that I need to
re-arrange the order of things. I hope it is the same for her as well.

Then again, something just can't change (p.s. If You are reading this,
please understand something traumatic had occur to me at some point of
life...). To sum it up, the decision is that, I 'll postpone my Japan
trip next year. Instead, I will make time and money, as well as effort
to spend more time together.

For the Future, one we will reach there, as one.
